Goalkeeper Academy at ADI
The mission in training goalkeepers at ADI is to offer the highest possible training for a truly unique position in the game of soccer. Anyone who is involved in the game knows that goalkeeper training is highly specialized and it incorporates all aspects of one’s being to master it. It is a time honored process that takes development in technique, tactics and personal psychology.
ADI Goalkeeper Academy Curriculum Includes:
• Technical Training: Training of all the skills associated with the position, including: foot work, foot skills and
handling.
• Tactical Training: Creating situations for goalkeepers so that they can learn to read the game.
• Psychological Training: Developing mental strength and building confidence; learning how to be
competitive.
• Developing Athletic Ability: Become a better goalkeeper by becoming a better athlete; this includes
training and direction in building strength, flexibility and conditioning.
• Match Analysis: A Match Analysis is an extremely essential and much overlooked part of a goalkeeper's
development. An evaluation of a goalkeeper's performance will serve as a valuable aid in helping the keeper
to learn to read the game and to adjust to the numerous situations that develop and occur during a match.
• Consultation: We at ADI offer consultation to both goalkeepers and their parents in helping them to make
valuable decisions for their futures. The difficulties that face a prospective student-athlete are understood,
and the sensitivity towards one's academic, as well as athletic, ability and potential are considered.
The process of determining a college for an individual to continue with his/her academic and athletic career
can be a daunting task for any family, to say the least. Paul’s affiliation with the collegiate level for over thirty
years can offer guidance and direction in determining a course of action for the college bound athlete.
• Video Review: The ADI Goalkeeper Academy utilizes video review and analysis to help assess the
development of its goalkeepers.
At the ADI Goalkeeper Academy, the interest is in not only offering the best possible training for today’s goalkeepers, but also in the development of the character of the athlete. The position is truly unique in sports because it incorporates not only all aspects of athleticism and knowledge of the game, but also those of character, such as leadership, confidence, intelligence, competitiveness and psychological strength. If a goalkeeper trains intently, with proper dedication and technique, and learns the game, then he or she will have a long and enjoyable career in the game.
The ADI Goalkeeper Academy values establishing relationships with its athletes. Once training begins at ADI, a personal interest is taken in each keeper’s progress in the position and ADI will help any of its goalkeepers with their careers.
The ADI Goalkeeper Academy goes well beyond training and drills, instead providing a full spectrum approach focused solely upon the goalkeeper position, providing a platform for the complete training for athletes playing the position. A solid leap beyond standard practices found elsewhere, the ADI goalkeeper is not only trained, but is taught and educated in every aspect of the goalkeeper position. With the power derived from the focus on a single position, coupled with techniques and innovations drawn from both Paul’s and Mark’s indisputably impressive careers, the ADI candidate will be starting a journey that will lead well beyond “The Next Level.” ADI looks forward to training you and we know that the training that you will receive will be extremely beneficial to you in your growth as a goalkeeper and as a person.
